I'm proud of our soldiers, but I think they are wasted in Iraq. I believe 100% in our fighting men and women- they do a hard job very dangerous job with low pay. Whatever good they are doing in Iraq, though, it doesn't make me any more comfortable with our invasion- with the reasons for it, with the destabilization of the region, and with the likely results in terms of the government of Iraq, and in terms of the sectarian problems that seem to be in a downward spiral.

There is good news in our inner cities too, but sometimes something is so screwed up that what you report on is the murders and the drug dealers. The water purification plant probably won't change the minds of any of the killers in Iraq, nor will it probably make the different factions agree any more quickly to a coalition government. What WILL affect these folks? The constant stream of murders. The human interest story about the water treatment plant is fine- but unfortunately it's not important in the greater scheme of things. I think the news accurately reflects what is really important right now in Iraq.
