The new democracy was established amidst a violent insurgency fueled by foreign terrorists. The chances of that democracy holding up long term is remote. That was a mistake of military planning. As I've said before, our mission was accomplished with the first election. The three facets -- removal of Saddam, elimination of WMD, and free elections -- have been achieved. Nowhere did I ever hear the administration say anything about staying until the last of the opposition has been vanquished.
