Given that you're a lawyer I find it puzzling that you'd bring up the First Amendment -- if the New York Times decided not to print an ad, that wouldn't be state action. Huh? You brought up "censorship" by a newspaper, something very, very odd. I thought you must have been talking about the FA. I said it probably didn't apply. Why are you puzzled about that? Am I missing something here? I think so. Bad guidelines on what and what not to publish. I consider the Sudanese government possibly genocidal, which is worse than merely criminal. Helping it bolster its image is not something a formerly great newspaper should do, regardless of the fact that it is merely publishing an "advertisement."
