Colorado had a nice sustainable formula. It allowed them to spend flat, plus inflation, plus an adjustment for immigration.

Doggon, didn't they bust it in 2004?

Making good fiscal policy is never popular. Being a successful politician is not easy unless you buy votes. Relate that to Ann Coulter's observations about conservatives.

She observes that one has to be very smart to be a conservative Republican; the media hates them and will cast them in a bad light whenever possible. Any misstatement will be quoted widely, etc. OTOH dumb Republicans can always win accolades from the FMSM by espousing liberal ideals.
