Has it EVER occurred to you that the more independent gov'ts we have, the more wars we would have?

Suppose instead of being one nation, the territory that is now the United States consisted of 50 independent nations. How many wars do you think there would have been between them in the last 217 years? As it is, we have had one. A bad one, but only one.

Now the logical extension of that idea is that to minimize war, we need a world gov't. Probably correct, but I see no way there from here. And, of course (as we ourselves illustrated) you still face the danger of civil war.

"Various societies of people"? You don't think the differences between those societies would cause wars?
