IMO the long reputation of the USA as a just, moral, ethical society has created tremendous apathy in most Americans. There are so many who just stand around expecting the pendulum to swing back to liberalism all on its own. They won't do anything because they have such a deep seated belief that nothing really bad will happen in this country because, heck, McCarthyism and Nixon are dead and buried.

This kind of dangerous apathy and the glow of the Clinton economy really took people out for an extended lunch. Surprise!

While no one was paying attention the debt grew 60%, the US of A became a dangerous rogue state, the executive branch spied on anyone it wished, the Prez broke the law and lied about it, legislation was written by BigPHarma, BigOil for their exclusive benefit.

Surprise!

As interest rates rise and housing crumbles, the weather gets all violent and whacked out, Iraq continues to descend into militiaville chaos and summer driving season makes gasoline go nuts....will people stand up and take notice that their future is going into the pockets of a handful of thugs?

I dunno. I would hope so. I would hope that the average American would see how the system is stacked against them and they're living ever more risky, poorer lives because of it. Will they bemoan their fate or change the system?

Are Americans lemmings for life?
