When you think of Islamo-Fascism, think of Communism. The Communists, just like the Nazis, were going to take over the world. Further, they had huge stockpiles of WMD, not just imaginary ones. They had killed God awful numbers of their own people as well. Now, what happened to them? Which Communist countries were defeated militarily by the West? How did they actually change? Communism was defeated by one simple thing: Western Commerce. The money we spent on a nuclear shield was probably well spent, the rest we spent on the military during the cold war was pretty much wasted. If starting in the 1960's we had invited 50K Russian exchange students and business people to spend a year living in the USA each year, the Berlin Wall would have been down by the 1970's. The Russians would have jumped at the chance because they could spy. All those 50K would have had some KGB instructions prior to coming, but you know what, it would not freaking matter. We could have rotated them through every defense contractor, DARPA, NASA, whatever. Heck, we could have given them blueprints for every weapon we had. Who cares. They lost, and changed, because our economic system was better, and their leaders and people eventually came to understand that. We could have hastened the process considerably with a little clear thinking. BTW, if starting in the Mid 60's, we had provided 10K scholarships a year to N. Vietnam radicals to get degrees at U.C Beserkely and other such radical institutions, we could have skipped the the Vietnam war, saved a few million lives in indochina, and Vietnam would be a mini S. Korea right now contributing mightily to the world GDP. Instead, a bunch of moron Generals preoccupied with the hammers they cared, got their way. No wonder we keep getting screwed. For that matter, we could do the same with Castro and Chavez right now. Provide tens of thousands of scholarships, including military ones. Welcome both clowns to tour the USA, giving kooky talks wherever any leftwing crowds want to welcome them. Let them strut like peacocks. Who care? Run all of their top troops through our special forces programs, where they will also get indoctrinated in our ways of thinking. Make anyone of their top governmental officials eligible for an MBA at Harvard. Encourage Gringos to spend their vacations in Cuba and Venezuela. Both clowns would be replaced (or changed their own outlooks) in short order. But instead, we give them the benefit of being Davids to our Goliath, then wonder why they continue to thrive.
