Sigh! Saddam's intent was one of several legitimate CASUS BELLI! IMO, it's not that you don't get it. You don't want to get it. You are simply content to cling to the liberal groupthink that still fervently believes most of the following; * "Bush was put in office by criminal means", * "illegal selected President" * tax cuts for the rich * Saddam was contained - sanctions were working * unilateral - go it alone canards * rush to war * Iraq war planned before 9/11 * Bush knew in advance about 9/11 & did nothing * illegal war * Bush lied us into war * the imminent threat canard * civilians intentionally targeted/massive civilian casualties canards * if we go to War in Iraq, there will be a dramatic increase in terrorist attacks globally * the Wilson/Plame/yellowcake canards * the rush to war canard * quagmire * bogged down * 'Bush's justification for war was "stockpiles" of WMD's & nothing else' * Saddam had no ties/connections to Al Qaeda * The Bush Admin falsely linked Iraq to 9/11 as part of the justification to go to war * Bush was AWOL/received "special" treatment Dan Rather/Mary Mapes good - documents not forged, ET AL * Bush crushing of dissent & freedoms * Patriot Act memes * Mission Accomplished canard * journalists intentionally targeted * Haliburton memes * worst economy since Hoover * jobless recovery * Bush (or an Admin official) called (insert name) unpatriotic * anyone who questions Bush is a traitor &/or unpatriotic * Bush proposed a ban on gay marriage * Bush/fascist * Supreme Court nominees out of the mainstream * Bush & Co pressured the intelligence agencies to give them the data that agreed with what they wanted and to cherry pick, change, or ignore, the data they did not like. * Bush will have to bring back the draft * culture of corruption * US committed atrocities with the tacit approval reaching the highest levels of the Bush Admin * exit strategy memes * various torture & abuse memes (non-isolated acts by individuals or small groups) * Bush violates the Constitution * 'illegal' 'domestic spying', * Iraq, civil war memes - etc., etc., etc. You want to ignore too many inconvenient facts & cling to a reality that simply does not exist. And you wonder why we literally roll our eyes when we try to discuss this stuff with you factually, rationally, logically & honestly.
