There is a lot of outrage on Duke Campus. The prosecutor is up for reelection. His female opponent is very close to retiring him. Students seem to believe that he is trying to gain credibility as tough on violence against women for political reasons.

He is releasing selective information to the media in a way that casts doubt on his motives.

Duke probably cannot be any more coercive without stepping on students' rights. The coach on the other hand has more leeway.

That being said: I am outraged that this happened. No male has any right to treat women disrespectfully.
