"what i find amusing to watch is both parties tripping over themselves to find a way to not offend the emerging illegal voting block"

you have to be a citizen to vote. permanent resident is not enough, and illegal definitely cannot vote. it is doubly stupid to pander to people who can't even vote.

my parents became citizens in 1971, were permanent residents for years, learned English, learned American history, i don't see why other people should get a free ride when they had to work for it.

RE:"the main difference here, and what I find amusing to watch is both parties tripping over themselves to find a way to not offend the emerging illegal voting block, while making it 'appear like' they are cracking down.....much easier to demagogue the port deal."

Exactly.

The Dems are enjoying watching the republican party split over immigration but are real squeamish on where to come down on immigration themselves. A lot of them are just putting a bag over their head and hoping it will go away even though they are "for open borders" based on human rights issues and potential votes.

Perhaps all of them should be lumped in a traitors for not wanting to uphold the laws of the land.

They had a poll yesterday on a PHOENIX TV station (channel 3) yesterday on that topic....85/15 against amnesty (and this in a city with 30% Hispanic population)....
