The Vietnam War was waged by the Halliburton type military-industrial special interests along with Pentagon hawks and Cold War junkies. Sadly, LBJ was included in that bunch. These days, I guess LBJ would be a Bush Texas Republican.

John Kennedy was winning in Vietnam because his Green Beret force was working on a limited basis on the ground with indigenous forces like the Montagnards. We did not have any big bases or any major escalations yet. In fact, a memo JFK wrote showed he wanted to get out of Vietnam. Thatv threatened a lot of peoples' rice bowls.

Next thing we know, a conspiracy in Texas murders our beloved president. Whoever was behind it was on the side of the war-mongers, on the rightwing side. And certainly J. Edgar Hoover had a hand in it because the plot needed someone like him to engineer everything, including the cover up. The the plot needed multiple assassins too, and those probably came from the CIA black ops types who ran Iran-Contra, Phoenix Program, etc. But who was really behind it? Probably the ones who'd make the most money off the war, companies like Halliburton, whose Brown + Root division was the biggest contractor in Vietnam. And this was a case where Ralph Nader was right, both political parties were almost equally corrupt, but Kennedy wasn't. In fact, Kennedy and his brother were murdered because they stood up to the entrenched Cold War powers that were, including Hoover and the military-industrial complex Eisenhower warned us about.

To Robert Kennedy, he too was hated by Hoover and wanted to end the war. He too was murdered under very suspicious conditions, complete with a cover-up and white-washing of the crime scene and other major evidence pointing to multiple shooters.
