This peak oil thing has me going in circles. On the one hand, I want to be prepared. On the other hand, I'm living in the same world I was living in last year and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that....except the price of gas is higher...but not so high compared to what the Canadians are paying. And gardening is hard work. I'm an inside person. I like my computer and the comforts of inside. If I go outside, it's to stroll around town and visit the local espresso shop or library. I'm too old and too weak to plow and plant and harvest. I guess this means I'm going to die when TSHTF since I won't be able to feed myself. But in the old days (according to TV) there were town folks who supplied what town folks needed, right? So there'll be some entrepreneur who will sell me food and who cares how I'll dress since life will be hard anyway. Speaking of Canadians, we just finished a "tour" of lower BC. It's a fine country of vast humongous mountains interspersed with little flat valleys with much isolation. I've never seen such mountains...very impressive. Things are expensive in BC, but I wonder if it isn't because they're already taxing the things that we will soon tax more, like fuel. I like BC a lot, but don't know if I'm ready to leave my home country. On our tour, we traveled from Tofino on westernmost Vancouver Island to Osoyoos, east of the mountains and just north of Oroville, WA. In the bathroom of the ferry dock at Nanaimo, BC there was a receptacle for the disposal of used syringes. In the bathroom of a gas station in Lilloet, BC there was a tupperware container with several condoms and a sign, "help yourself, leave some for others." I like BC a lot.
