If the Democrats take power, it'll be the quality of apointments for good governance that'll be the determining factor.

I don't fall for the GOPwinger talking point that the dems don't have a leader.

Gingrich just did the right thing by doing a Brutus on Bush. Now, none of the Hannity-Limbaugh types can bash and smear peace-makers anymore, and Murtha and Kerry instead of McCain and any Bushie will become the recognized authorities on what to do about the war.

But even without Gingrich, this war is discredited. It's so directionless, confused and pointless now. The odds against achieving anything are so great. Our troops are also exchausted and we've wasted a huge amount of money there. Plus, it's made gas prices higher not lower and it's spawned even more dangerous regimes in Iran and Palestine.

I feel bad for those who've given their lives, limbs and hearts and souls to fight in Iraq, but what we need now is to stop the losses and reverse course. Staying the Bush course was a terrible idea and we've known that for several years. Actually believing a word Bush-Cheney said was a terrible mistake. It's a real tragedy for this country, but there will be better days ahead.
