To: Alan Smithee who wrote (47548 ) 5/9/2006 12:17:54 PM From: Rainy_Day_Woman Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 90947 the Holiday Inn Express charges from New Orleans are resolved after fighting with them over a month - this particular HIE is franchised, not owned by the InterContinental Hotel Group - apparently the owner swore there was staff in the hotel and that they escorted the guests out - I told them it was a flat out outrageous lies - to which they replied they were sorry my father had a "difficult" time finding any staff and arbitrarily left on his own - that during a hurricane and it's after math he should expect "limited services" at of course the full price I spoke with several people connected with the HIE - some were down right rude - all took the owners side - all minimized and denied there was a problem - it was all so insulting after much back and forth, they offered $100 off the bill and said it was their only offer - then they called again and offered to half the bill now I know this will sound silly, but towards the end of all this I would get so upset, I would begin to shake - it was so upsetting, it was reliving that hell week over and over again - then I would have to relay it all to my father - and deep in my heart, honestly, I felt they were so wrong - but it all was taking a toll on me so I was tempted to settle but, I couldn't, for it felt so unfair, wrong, didn't sit with me - so I contacted Corporate - told our story - I also mentioned that I was thinking of writing Ombudsman at Conde Nast Traveler magazine [I was, they seem to settle everything and I thought the hurricane slant would get it their attention] - they said they would get back to me they did, a VP with abject apologies for all we had been put through - there were "internal" problems with this and it was "their" problem, not ours - that we should have never been dragged into this they asked how my father was doing and hoped he had recovered and was doing well that all was taken care of and not to worry further and again, they were profoundly sorry I think the mention of Ombudsman at Conde Nast helped at any rate, it is finally over pssst - I am going to Ireland in October won't be staying at any Holiday Inns
