It seems that because I bought 1,000 shares of Enron on 20 November 2001 for $319.95 and then sold them three days later for $380.03, a profit of $60.08, I am on a list of investors sharing in a $6,600,000,000 settlement of a class action lawsuit. The cut-off date was 2 December 2001. The "average distribution per common share" of this settlement is to be approximately $7.89.

Somehow, I expect that anything I get will do a lot to skew the average downwards. But wouldn't it be neat if I got $7,890? And it would be damages, and hence tax free.

I suspect that I am likely to be entitled to either nothing or to about $15.

Anyone else get this notice from the United States District Court in Houston?
