None of this makes any sense to me. I can fully understand Iran's desire for nuclear technology, even nuclear weapons. What I can't understand is the high price Iran is prepared to pay in its attempt at acquiring this, which has a high probability of failure if push comes to shove.

Why get in the face, why mock and challenge the big bully? It does not cause the bully to back down, given his great advantages, rather quite the opposite, and gives him the political cover he needs to start a war.

But it is not only the big bully that Iran has to worry about. Unlike the run up of the Iraq "war", most of the world seems united this time in denying Iran nuclear technology. And the world is much bigger than the neocons in Washington. It includes the enthusiastic support of the Labour party of Great Britain for example. And todate, anyway, Russia and China have supported limiting Iran's nuclear ambition. But Iran insists it wants more, it wants it all.

Why fight a fight you cannot win? The terrible consequences of a loss are great and long lasting. I would think I am not alone in this, but it just doesn't make any sense to me, but I guess that isn't of any importance. Iran is saying loudly and clearly it is prepared for any consequences and is not prepared to compromise her nuclear ambitions.

Hopefully it is all a high stake bluff. But if it is not, no one will come out of this without battle scars.

I would personally hate to see Iran suffer the same kind of destruction and devastation Iraq has and continues to suffer. And none of us are immune from the fallout I suspect.

So I can only hope Iran is bluffing, as I am convinced the "rest of the world" is not.
