that's why a country should be self sufficient and stay out of the affairs of other nations/cultures.

Nobody talks about nuking Canada or the Swiss.

I agree that these are very complex and obviously deeply worrying issues.

However, the worst approach is to threaten the other. Once such a threat is issued (particularly with nuclear weapons) every sane and insane person looks for their ultimate defense and that includes almost always the acquisition of a similarly destructive weapon no matter the consequences.

Another point is that international treaties only work if ALL parties adhere to the principles including the strong ones. Iran is surrounded by nuclear states and some of these didn't even participate in the NPT and are treated with much more respect despite violating ALL the rules, see India and Pakistan.

As you can imagine, this doesn't play well domestically in Iran.

As I mentioned before, the key is to talk, face to face and stop this childish threatening business on both sides.
