There is no, and I mean zero, peer reviewed scientific "controversy" about global warming, the greenhouse effect, and the fact that we are contributing to it. In fact any fool can see that when one single volcanic eruption was capable of disrupting the climate for an entire year, that burning the earth's entire stock of hydrocarbons in the matter of two centuries will have a significant effect on the climate.

Except in the minds of Exxon-Mobil and their paid spin and jive think tanks. The news media in this country, which to this day continues to insert verbiage of the form "many scientists believe..." in any news or magazine item on this subject is guilty of dereliction of duty in not having the spine to stick to reporting facts. Bush, Big Oil, and all the rest of the "hear both sides" BS artists have managed to snow the public thanks in good part to this spineless news media of ours.

What good is freedom of the press if we cannot rely on the press to do their job ? It quite simply ceases to be a functioning check and balance on our government.

Anyone who doubts that global warming is just a fantasy should make it a point to see the scientific data this documentary offers to prove differently.

Don't forget that this is NPR, not Forbes Magazine. Anything on NPR is a bunch of left wing lies, right ? Remember the angry letters to Fox Fictional News when they had a report on global warming, and how "one sided" it was.

Still, I hope this Nova presentation does manage to convince a handful of people who might have been on the fence - that'll at least be something. Time is roaring by.

There is no doubt that the Northern Hemisphere has warmed.

The causes of the warming, and the extent that each such cause, including human activity, has contributed to it is the cause of a huge and roaring scientific controversy which is far from resolved.

We may be in a natural warming cycle exacerbated by many factors including added CO2, methane, water vapor, etc. No one with an honest bone in their body can claim to know the extent to which human activity as opposed to natural cyclical forces has contributed to the warming.

Was there a discussion as to why there was Global Dimming? I didn't see the show, but did they mention clouds? As in greater cloud cover?

Is global warming occurring and is man contributing to this? Yes. However... the amount of energy from the sun reaching the earth and atmosphere has also been increasing.

Remember sun exposure and cancer? Well it still may cause cancer, but...
