While your reference is to Guantánamo, the larger issue is the fate of detainees at ALL secret US prisons around the world. There is a tight lid on what goes on throughout the US gulag -- and for good reason. At this point, there is simply no way to estimate the number of prisoners who have died in US custody. M2

Just for clarity, you are arguing that you do not present speculation as fact. Your fact is that there could have been deaths at Gitmo that have not been reported. Have I understood that correctly?

Since the detainees now have access to the U.S. legal system, it seems like we would have known if one of them died.

"The 2-1 decision by the Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit held, in response to a petition from the relative of a Libyan held in Cuba, that the 660 detainees should be afforded some minimal access to the U.S. legal system."

Complaints and interviews have been publicized. It seems unlikely that the persons making the complaints would have left out the death of a fellow prisoner.

"Documents interviews with detainees at Camp Delta. Detainee says he and others have been "beaten, spit upon and treated worse than a dog." (DOD045033). Other detainee states that while in Kandahar, he was beaten by American soldiers. (DOD045034.)

These are excerpted from a UCLU web site which published a long list of documents related to your topic. No deaths reported, very unlikely that there have been any.

btw ... your fact seems a bit speculative in tone, in my opinion.
