Should have realized it before this blew up in his face. How many more faux pas can we get from these guys? 33,32,31,30 and counting. Again someone in the admin let the president down. Like with so much other stuff from iraq to katrina, this president has been ill served and after five years still unable to recognize that he is in bed with the wrong people. Perhaps he is listening now??

Way to go Bush. He just relaxed the standards for gasoline. Maybe they realized the switch from mtbe to ethanol was a nice idea, but a practical nightmare. I gotta ask. As I understand it, the switch from mtbe to ethanol was a scheduled spring task to be completed no later than early May. The switch required that tanks [with mtbe] were emptied and cleaned prior to filling with an ethanol mix. As a result there were a few very isolated incidents where for a very short period of time individual gas stations ran out of gas. "Ran out of gas" is probably an exaggeration. There were some stations that ran out of, e.g., 93 octane. Now here it is the end of April with the completed switch scheduled for early May. I would think it's a reasonable speculation that nearly all of the tanks have been cleaned and are now running an ethanol mix. There may be a few tanks that are in the process of being cleaned. I certainly wouldn't expect the companies to fill those tanks with an mtbe mix so they have to empty the tanks and re-clean them. There isn't any overall "shortage" of gasoline. There's plenty of gas, it's just $3/gallon. The question. What do you expect the result of a relaxation of standards will be? TIA, jttmab P.S. Way to go Bush.
