<I feel you are talking about some sort of education gap and I could not disagree more>

Yes, there is a looming gap between America and the world. Education takes effort, intelligence, investment and commitment. In the long run it is the foundation of our economy. That foundation now has big cracks. A startling percentage of high school students drop and out and never graduate. Our universities are still excellent, but the cost of education is a barrier many cannot overcome. Where we once clearly led the world, now we are slipping, and in some respects we are slipping very, very badly. China, India, and many other smaller emerging economies place a much higher value on education and the benefits that come with it. They will prosper. To the extent that we do not value the development of people, our economy will slide. Housing prices are always a source of interest -- much like talk about the weather. But in the long run, housing prices are a sideshow with short-term cyclical significance at most.
