What you say is wonderful -- but what of your children? And their children?

Ayn Rand said screw those little poop makers - all she needed were her books.

Of course I am concerned about my children and the country they live in. I do agree with many of your observations, and share many of your concerns. My only issue with what you say is this: I know I work very hard in a field with a high educational qualification. I am surrounded by (legal) immigrants who love being here, and who work very hard as well. Maybe my experience is not representative of the entire US, but to say that "we" aren't creating value, and that "no one" wants to come here, and that "we" are lazy in comparison to China, flies in the face of my personal experience.

As for my children, I get them the best schooling I can afford, and by example I try to teach them the difference between schooling and education - a distinction that is often forgotten in the education debates.
