Canadians strike people with civility as a basic challenge to see if the other party can outdo them in folksiness. If the opposing stranger strikes a familiar pose and lathers on the excess civility in order to gain "visitor access points" and "familiar friendliness co-efficient"-edge, they are immediately dismissed as, "tourists over eager to please in order to not be noticed brazenly ignoring local restrictive regulations designed to discourage settlement, prevent acquisitions driving up real estate prices and discouraging strangers from getting nosy about the existence of local rackets" or "brash and pushy americans/foreign visitors". If however they fail to be equally civil in return or flunk the basic "civility evaluation guideline and policy, Section 3-6, Subsection 6, Item 243 of the "CDN Government Tourist, Foreign Visitor, and Landed Immigrant Advisory Board's General Regulations For Aliens of All Manner and Description", then they can be treated with peremptory condescension and haste, with deference only for their willingness to spend money immediately in order to gain further access to services rendered.
