Re: While that is true, these things are a bid down the road. These extremely cheap Celerons are there now. What is your take on Intel's motivation here? It seems to me that the damage to Intel is going to be an order of magnitude bigger than impact on AMD.

These Celerons are a dumpster material, either downbinned or a side-effect of having to run too many wafers to get enough higher end parts, but in either case, each one of those Celerons may be replacing a CPU with 2x its price, more than likely than not, an Intel CPU.

Apparently the motivation is to prevent AMD from getting more traction in the low-end market. The prices are low enough that it would be difficult for AMD to turn a significant profit in that market no matter how cheaply FAB30 or Chartered could produce Semprons. It doesn't look like NGA is coming to Celeron for at least three quarters so it is likely the low Netburst Celeron prices are here to stay.

Jozef,

I saw your comment over on Aces that you expect HT3 to be deployed with K8L in H1 2007. And Charlie reply saying no with a much later date. The AMD roadmap does show HT3 in 2007

amdcompare.com

Its under "Platforms".

So I wonder if this is just a major slip by AMD or if Charlie is mistaken?
