I was merely objecting to the comparison of people who are skeptical about something that is unknown (global warming)...

Global warming and the greenhouse effect are not "unknown", unless you're the president of Exxon-Mobile or the United States. These two people and their associates have cynically (or stupidly, it matters little which) confused a precise prediction about when during this century the shiite will hit the fan on this with the incontestable evidence that the effect itself is real and an increasingly close at hand danger and that we are contributing greatly to it.

We are in much the same situation we were in with two public health issues from the near past - cigarette smoking and its link to cancer, and unhealthy high fat diets and lack of exercise, and their link to heart disease.

Only this time it's not just a costly health and quality of life problem. Scientists who have been trying to bring this issue to the attention of the public and our policy makers are every bit as right as those who pointed out the problems that were causing lung cancer and heart disease.

Once again pinhead political hacks and corporate spin doctors are successfully exploiting the public's woeful ignorance.

It seems to work every time.
