I completely disagree - global megacorps want to do away with your current nationalist regime - they do not want to collapse china - they just want to make profit from her like they do everywhere else and if communist regimes are running over the customers with tanks - that is less profit. If american nationalism is hurting profit - it must go too - and it has gone in both places - china is nothing special. Like Orwell said - your gubbment can make the people feel their is an outside threat and get them to rally behind one man or system - but those days are waning.

Shades, I think she has it correct.
Look no further than the IMF.
Loaning countries money on conditions they will set up policies.
Those policies were the eventual destruction of every country that took them.

I have no doubt that Citycorp etc would love to see China collapse so they could come in on very favorable terms.

US congressmen are perhaps clueless pawns in the game perhaps adhering to their master's grand plans and do what they are told for campaign contributions.

Somehow I feel they (the congressmen) backed down because they were TOLD to back down (as if the current plan is being aborted).

If this sounds like a bunch of stupid conspiracy theories then so be it but just like the S&L crisis there will probably be more crisis to come (Fannie Mae) perhaps where the big banks will swoop up the daed for pennies on the dollar. If China is too smart to play along well they (Congress) had to cancel their bluff (perhaps because they were TOLD to). Otherwise how can you explain the change in tune? China sure as hell did not give in.
