Someone said that bribery (money for favors) isn't legal and that lack of legality doesn't seem to run afoul of the First Ammendment. Therefore, why do 100% publicly funded campaigns?

There are lots of things that go against the First Ammendment including yelling fire in a crowded theater or talking about bombs in an airport or talking about killing someone. Frankly, I think all of those are patty cake compared to buying politicians.

Voting is a public activity. There's no rule that says some public activities are to be 100% publicly funded. Can someone, for example, buy their own police or justice system or sidewalks or what not?

IMO we have no choice but to get 100% publicly funded campaigns. We aren't going to survive the politics if we don't.
