There was something like 500 american deaths when bush had his carrier moment. Bush also had 74% approval rating on that day. Things went badly from that point and his approval fell to 30%. Americans are fickle, no doubt. Now George Cloony wants to do something about Darfur. His plan is to have a UN/NATO effort. Cool beans except that bin laden has already threatened intervention and the UN is typically on Sudan's side and the EU fears bin laden, their own fifth column along with the potential loss of oil. So if the deaths in Darfur go on, what will cloony do? Will he urge dare i say unilateral US action. Well if he does, he will meet a firestorm of resistance from the american people for some valid and some not so valid reasons. If Americans dont like perceived quagmires in vietnam and Iraq, wait till they get a load of Darfur. I am playing devils advocate here. As a Jew, I feel a responsibility to the black folks of africa who are being killed off by the Arabs. Thats what it is Hawk--no more and no less--arab racism added to their religious intolerance. They started with christians and animists and now moved on to black followers of islam. Hell even Sharpton and Jackson finally get it.
