Russ, what is your outlook on gold and the dollar? do you think gold is just another "Risklove" trade or do you think it is anticipating and end to the Fed's rate rise.

it looks to me like Bernanke will be forced to choose between the Scylla of a US economic crisis (if raises aggressively) and the Charybdis of a tanking USD (if he stops raising short of popping the US credit bubble). what do you think?

I have seen the skies of Tokyo so brown with dessert dust that at first I assumed their must be a forest fire near the airport -- and this is from dust blown off the Gobi. How much do you know about the Gobi? Look at desserts worldwide -- look at the desserts of the United States. Do you think that the populations of the southwest are sustainable?? Our cities are are the equal to the worst "open sewers" when it comes to wasted water and energy. The United States will not even admit that greenhouse gases pollute the environment -- and why? Because then we would have to face up to the facts. And the fact is, we lead the world in producing the gasses that most threaten long-term survival on this planet. And we waste the most water. And we burn the most fuel, directly and indirectly. China is dirty. But the US is the most destructive society on earth -- and the most complacent about its own little environmental house of horrors. When it comes to destroying this planet, the US leads the parade.
