Now for a more serious reply. If you are an american and you consider the bush govt flawed you have options. Elections are coming up. Bush will be pres for less than a 1000 days. In iran mullahs rule. They got an unfair shake from American fp in the past. I wasnt making the hitler analogy in comparing the regimes. My only point is that most folks, right and left, now feel that although versailles was unfair, and brought about Hitler, appeasement should not have been the policy. Yeah its ok to feel bad about fp but its not ok to appease a monster even if you helped create him. This is what fp is all about. Its an imperfect game and sometimes grievous errors occur. But to counter such an error today by bending over for the hitlers back then or to bin laden and the mad mullahs today is idiotic.

Micheal voted for Bush twice, and just can't bring himself to regret the decisions. Bush defends Israel without question, as if it were a US state, and that really all he cares about.

If you only knew how much People in Mexico (Mexicans and Americans), where I now live see the US as the Rogue Nation and its leadership (I think Bush is the Lead actor who maybe has begun to believe his original role) as or more dangerous then perhaps Hitler was!

It's often difficult to debate issues with people who are intent on judging the US to be a rogue nation for upholding international laws, let alone international order.

Most of them don't know the issues involved. They don't understand that many nations have been intent on permitting rogue governments to flaunt the United Nations Security Council, and it's been left to the US to actually do something about it.

Most, especially in Latin America, have qualms about the US pushing its weight around.. And while most of them might claim they despise terrorism, they really have no desire to become involved in doing something about it.

But in the case of Iran.. one way of helping them to see reason is to note that Britain, France, and Germany are taking the lead in the UNSC this time around, and it's China and Russia who are trying to obstruct enforcement of Iran's obligations under the NPT.

And if you want to get a bit more combative, just ask them whether not being greatly involved in combatting terrorism might be one of the reasons that the US is getting tougher on border controls.

I just ask people what evidence they have for claiming that Bush is acting outside of international law. Because every decision he's made, thus far, has strong basis in international law and the UN Charter.
