A decade ago global warming was up for discussion. Most respectable scientists now agree that global warming is occurring, and MUCH faster than the normal geologic cycle. In the last decade the planet has experienced three of the hottest years in the history of recordkeeping, with no natural geologic cause. This is one of the reasons for the consistent recurrence of cat 5 hurricanes in the southeast US and Mexico.

If mankind is the cause of this warming then the pace will quicken as China and India continue to industrialize and the US continues to waste energy heating/cooling huge houses and fueling gas guzzlers.

There are still a few quack "scientists" out there claiming no global warming but the vast majority are now more concerned with how to control it. IMHO It is unlikely mankind will be able to get it under control. The problem will become too big before humanity is prepared to deal with it. Once the methane hydrate on the ocean floors starts to flash to gas the cycle will quickly deteriorate to the point where mankind does not have the technology or energy resources to slow or stop it.
