I can see abrasive Tommaso is back. No, we didn't miss you. Did you really make as much as you claim off COS and ES or is this attitude something we still have to put up with?

Firstly, "spin out" is the exact term used in the Globe article to which I provided a link. I'm sorry, I can't click it and read it for you, perhaps your local library can help you out.

Secondly, analysts are quite in agreement that ECA is not receiving full value in its share price for its vast oil sands holdings, which is exactly why former CEO Gwyn Morgan was asked this question in the past. Moreover, some investors were concerned ECA gas assets might be used in a potentially low return internal transaction to provide gas for oil sands production, a use of gas that not all investors agree with.

Thirdly, it is NEVER a guarantee that spun off assets will result in shares for investors. Besides, it is just as often a cash dividend as the new entity could be private. Also, CLL investors will tell you with regards to PDP that no shares were given to CLL investors. Moreover, PBG doesn't seem to be providing Petrominerales IPO shares to its investors. Show me the precedent in the oil sands where shares are given to investors upon asset disposition! POU just got a whack of North American Oil Sands pre-IPO shares in exchange for some oil sands leases, but as a POU shareholder I have received zero indication at all that upon the IPO of North American Oil Sands (scheduled for later this year) that I will receive shares.

For example, if ECA sold the oil sands assets and used the proceeds to acquire more gassy assets or to merge with an existing gassy trust there might not be any 'shares' to be had.

Those are my three points, and I likewise could care less if you 'get' them, I've just enjoyed making them.
