I cringe every time I hear some talking head somberly pronounce that "America is a nation of laws." That phrase means nothing by itself. A bunch of pompous "lawmakers" sitting around brings to mind scenes from the original Planet of the Apes.

Laws are only valid if they serve to support and defend rights, whether they be individual rights, property rights or State's rights. Any other laws are self-serving, immoral and unethical.

Remember this:

Nazi Germany was a "nation of laws."
The Soviet Union was a "nation of laws."
And the Peoples Republic of China is a "nation of laws."
