Possibly, yet as of the moment its all speculation. What is not speculation is the Earth is undergoing major climate change from the solar output and it's accelerating.

Apparently you haven't heard about the Great Missoula Flood, in which an ice dam backed up water into most of western Montana. When the ice dam broke, a wall of water exceeding the output of the world's 14 largest rivers came out at once, creating the giant scablands of eastern Washington and taking house sized boulders from Montana clear out to McMinnville Oregon. I'm over 200 miles from Missoula, hundreds of feet above the river, and sitting on top of just one of the huge banks of glacial outwash piled up by this flood.

Flood stories? We got 'em. It happened many times, about 10,000 years ago, apparently before North America was ever inhabited by humans.
