Well, you're the boss. I don't think barring deserved, though - I may disagree with what he said, but etc etc...
I'll drop it, anyhow.

Sorry, this is the last straw. Banning Hawkmoon is a sign that this forum is irreparably broken. I will no longer post here.

I see absolutely nothing wrong in allowing someone to post who has been to Iraq and who has participated personally in the things he discusses, 100% of which are completely on topic, valuable, and informative. In fact, I think his input is uniquely valuable. Moreover, his tone is civil and always respectful. As that rare someone with personal experience in Iraq, he should be welcomed, not booted. Certainly not treated as he has. You have no grounds, other than whim, for banning him.

You are banning Hawkmoon for content because you presumably disagree with it, and this is something I cannot stomach.

Many on this thread have a long history of posting to Hawkmoon, who (I believe) was away for a while.

He used to be a reasonable person when I interacted with him in the past, so I assume he was using intemperate language because he did not realize that you were making an effort to keep conversation civil.

Civility is a worthy goal, for which I applaud your efforts.

I wonder if you might consider making Hawkmoon's departure temporary? If he's amenable to such treatment. If he acts like a jerk, make it permanent.

I'm afraid

apparently you are....

quite!

afraid of insightful analysis based upon ACTUAL experience, rather than pontificating from a place of comfort or insulation.....
hawkmoon has always been one of the more evenly balanced, well written, well thought out (as well as courteous) posters with <GASP!> real, on the ground experience when it comes to what is happening in iraq

and banning him here will not silence him....those of us who seek his input need only click on his profile to access his thoughts and analysis...

so do continue to ban thoughtful, experienced, and reasoned thread contributors like hawkmoon or nadine carroll or "bill" .....

by doing so you only expose your personal 'fear' of strong, well reasoned rebuttal to your point of view....

you can't stand the heat...

time to eliminate your 'kitchen'

"I'm afraid"

oh yes....

yes you are!
