But my brand spanking new 17" MacBook Pro does have FW800.

Nyaa, nyaa!

So, got a ton of FW800 compatible devices, do ya? ;-)

Seriously, I don't, not a one. Never did, likely never will, given USB2 is all the rage.

I know, I know, sigh, you have twice as many USB2 ports than I do. (g)

My only solace is the fact a 17" is simply too big for me. Always has been. If it were not, I'd have waited for one like you did.

what do you think of the keyboard on the 17", some reviewers don't like it for some reason but I can't remember what the reason was.

have you experienced any issues with heat?

Did you call around to see who else had these, they were announced a few weeks ago and amzn says they still don't have any, is that normal? Seems like a long time not to have any inventory.

TIA, I was going to buy one about a month ago when I thought they would be readily available. Instead I waited and now I am waiting for the new macbooks to decide what I want. I have a perfectly good laptop but am switching all my home stuff to mac and maybe work too.
