It's the same old problem; Americans are completely plugged into a world economic and financial system they depend on for their gas, their mortgage financing, everything they buy at WalMart, etc. Oil prices depend on a market controlled by foreign national oil companies, not Exxon. But Joe Blow doesn't know that. He doesn't know about the trade deficit or why it matters. He won't care that the dollar is sliding. And so on and so on. Until one day it hits him in the pocketbook and the squealing begins. Gonna be a lot of squealing in the near future.
