Are you accusing me of talking out of both sides of my mouth at once? :-)

That seems reasonable. Limitations and oversight could prevent abuse of this for political and POV suppression purposes. Good idea. They should have stuck that in right at the start. They'd have a less fewer screams of outrage now.

A national Zogby poll of 1,000 likely voters, commissioned by the hard-line Center for Immigration Studies, indicates overwhelming support for border enforcement over a guest-worker program advocated in the Frist-Reid compromise. The polls show heavy preference for the restrictive House bill.

To borrow a paragraph from another poster commenting on the NSA phone number issue:

"I am more offended by constant attacks on my computer by endless data miners and hackers, by my personal info being collected and sold, and various other invasions of my privacy."

Everything under the sun is "open to abuse," it doesn't mean it shouldn't be done... we're fighting a war and measures have to be taken, and we need to move deliberately and quickly... it's as simple as that... an oversight committee is nice when we have all the time in the world, but I think it would be highly inappropriate for oversight committees to meddle into highly classified National Security operations... that's completely out of the question...
