Alright, I will try and be clearer.

Aside: I thought Gates actually invented DOS and offered it to IBM which passed on it. Not sure though.

I do hope you are right about the THAI process since I own a modest amount of PBG.

Actually, my recollection is that IBM was shopping for an operating system for personal computers (they actually thought PCs would have a limited future) and approached Gates. He knew where to get one, bought it and turned around and had the brilliant idea of licensing the O/S instead of reselling it.

The rest is history!
