(edit) If Buffet made 50%+ then why would he say in his own words that he didn't make much on the trade? There have been a number of good articles on why that may be FWIW.

The best articles that I have read say that the reason is that he hedged his bet at various times by going short w/the futures mrk. Worked for a while, but this latest spike caught him and many others off guard. I'm probably not doing the article justice, but can't find it right now. I agree w/the premise. Nothing else makes sense to me regarding his "small" profit and timing on the announcement.
