re: that's a BS answer

now I understand what you meant by "if you liked the swoon in AMD stock, I suppose. :)"... :-))

re: I was arguing that AMD damaged *its* investors (which included me at the time) by waiting (for no reason) to talk about K8L futures.

well, to that I can actually respond. In spite of all theories of efficient or semi-efficient markets that are so well described in the text book the ties between markets and information are very weak. Markets are mainly driven by emotions. And emotions are driven by timing of the news rather than news itself. Intel's PR far better than AMD's and hence it is pointless to release the news at the time when intel is showing off new designs.

re: But generally, OF COURSE debate and discussion is useful to investors-- isn't that the whole point of this forum?

of course it is and negative comments are probably even more useful than positive. And yet I can not shake off that feeling that it is not just about information sharing....

just my 2c

Doug - Perhaps they wanted to generate buzz and interest in AMD around the time of their AM2 intro, instead of getting lost in the Intel IDF "marketing machine"?
