Kennedy's military advisors in Vietnam were very successful. It was the escalattion which was self-defeating, and that only happened after the rightwing war mongers murdered Kennedy. LBJ, then Nixon, two of a kind. War for profit and prestige, believing in phony intel, phony premeses, stoking the fires of the Cold War and trying to look tough, like a big warrior. 500,000 Vietnamese and 50,000 Americans died for nothing. and JFK would have never let that happen. Not in a million years.
