On the first day of spring, they decided enough was enough. They took a financial leap that will soon take them back to Lakeview. They bought another house on Memphis Street and will use it as a base while fixing up their larger house on that street. They have not yet sold their house in the suburbs. "We weren't risk-takers before, but after Katrina, what the hell," Cathy Martinez said. Where are they getting all their money......he's an architect.......the only professional that gets paid less is a teacher. It doesn't say what is wife does but she's available in the early afternoon to pick up the kids from school. So how can they afford three houses? In the aftermath of Katrina, the shipping of black New Orleanians to the 4 corners of the country was considered suspect and was thought to be an attempt to remake New Orleans white. Well it looks like they are succeeding.
