Under Clinton they didn't count people who stopped looking for jobs either. In neither case was the "real unemployment rate" several times the official one. Self-employed and part time workers are simply employed people, they don't and should not count towards the unemployment rate, and they did not count when Clinton was president.

The unemployment rate is a measure of how much of the workforce is unemployed. If someone is employed they aren't unemployed, even if the employment is just part time. If someone is not in the workforce they don't count towards the unemployment rate either. If you want a figure that includes them you can look at the percent of the population that is employed. It was not greatly different under Clinton than it is now.

You defend Clinton, do you also continue to defend FDR's 90% income tax rates? How about people being arrested for selling a suit for 35 cents when the government wants them to charge at least 40? Are these the policies that cause you to think FDR's economic ideas where so great?
