Terrence...immigration is a hot potato...and the republicans are holding it. I think the ones that are going with a total hard line are trying to pander to their conservative constituencies, to the detriment of their national party.

It's really a lose lose situation and the republicans should think twice before they do anything that might alienate what will probably be the fastest growing voter block in the nation over the next 50 years.

Illegal immigration has been a problem for 50 years and for the past 5 Bush has been in power, plus the 8 he was Texas governor. Bush has done nothing about it in 13 years.
Dems haven't either, to be fair. But Bush is a glaring failure when it comes to this issue. And for the wrong reasons.

Bush supports illegal immigration for the cheap labor. Always has. And he's only doing something about it now because it's an election year and he has zero issues and a very unhappy rightwing base.
