<The end of the suspense is nearer

All will soon become clear>

Perhaps...Perhaps not. Maybe we get a little relief rally that peters out?

Everyone tells me nothing has changed, the commodity/energy story is stronger than ever.

Hmmm.

*I see demand destruction in US energy, and US consumers no longer using their houses to fund their gasoline purchases. Alternatives are moving slowly, but the consumer is speaking.

*jump in US job claims

*inflation showing up requiring a more hawkish Fed

*US gradually becoming more competitive globally with a lower dollar

*general global tightening by CBs increases borrowing costs even if liquidity is maintained

*Don Coxe is talking about holding onto mining shares for the NEXT bull market. (Try telling that strategy to people who still have a smattering of tech stocks in their portfolio, stocks that were $100/shr or more higher at the time)

I'm hanging onto a fistful of shares and wondering.

I think the market might be telling us something has changed. CNQ sliced right through its 200dma right now.

If a recession is 6-12 mos away the market will start to price that in now, and that is what we're seeing.

In other words these supposedly strong fundamentals could not be so strong in 6 months.

Will we see new 52wk highs? Maybe if the Fed quits very soon.

I hang onto my fistful...waiting.
