No matter how you finesse it the presence or absence of a selecting intelligence is a significant difference. Unless you think all evolution is guided by an intelligence.

The artificial selector can only do so much to keep something alive that would have died in nature, so there are definite limits to what the selector can achieve.

An intelligent breeder should be able to achieve the same sorts of things natural selection does given enough time. If they can't, then natural selection shouldn't be able to either.
