That is why there are illegal immigrants here. I've come to the conclusion we are not allowing near enough legal immigration. 1 - we can employ them now as the market for illegals shows. 2 - we are facing massive economic problems down the line due to our demographics. We have about about 300M people. Natural population growth is positive but low. We take in about a million legally per year. We also have 36M over 65 - drawing SS, receiving Medicare coverage, racking up most of the health care costs. The number over 65 is to double over the next 30 years. Simple calculations show the percent over 65 will go from 12% now to over 21% - which we can't handle. In time the SS surplus will disappear and the SS trust fund will be having to sell off the bonds they've bought over the past decades, driving up interest rates. Eventually the SS trust fund will be emptied and SS/Medicare benefits slashed due to financial necessity. The military budget will be slashed and the US as a major world power will end. I think the only way to prevent this is massive immigration to balance the population demographically. Immigration tilted to young immigrants.
