" Why heavily "discount" current products, when competition doesn't have to ship something? And why take a step lower, if you could sell all you can make for the given price? Seems like some aren't aware, how the situation today in some segments is. When the volume increases (and competition) from FAB36 to some very healthy numbers and Chartered cracks out some stuff, we will see EVEN more action in other segments too. Up till now you could see lower prices in the current Sempron lines, where AMD is adding some new modells (3200+, 3500+ and 3600+) - so old sheme is again in place. And as mentioned aggressive action from A64 3000+ till 3500+. Again, I really couldn't understand (we have discussed this already on WO:AMD), why AMD isn't selling more SC bins? Take these 1MB babys out and sell instead small DIE fast running F-Steps or Venice - doesn't matter. So if we do that conservative, we could replace 4000+ old 2,4G (1MB), with 2,6G (512) and add another 4200+ (?) with 2,8G (512kb). Isn't that problem and the people who want 1MB and more speed have to go to our Opteron 1xx lines. We know, that Intel will transition to NGA, but I still see HUGE SC selling in the coming months and the 6xx lines aren't a comp. So AMD could do real headache to existing Business SC SKUs (Intel only) where volume is great and will be great. Edit: The same could be said to Sempron. Intel and the OEMs are selling boatloads from this stuff. Why not go aggressive with Semprons just to do damage to existing Celeron lines (mostly Business). The first step is done with 3600+ and the next ones will follow. BUGGI
