That was the point I making with my comparison. The $316 price tag of the cheapest 4MB L2 cache Conroe doesn't imply anything negative about yields at all. It should outperform any of AMD's Athlon 64 X2 CPUs and it's priced very reasonable considering the lack of competition. It isn't even the cheapest 4MB L2 NGA processor due out this year. The 1.6GHz and 1.8GHz Woodcrests along with the 2GHz Merom are all expected to have 4MB L2 cache and be priced under $300 at launch.

I've been saying all along it looks like anything less than an NGA homerun and INTC has big problems.

Yep. Intel is betting the company on NGA. Conroe and Merom platforms look to be very solid if Intel can deliver the volumes. The FB-DIMM-only policy for Woodcrest seems risky in my opinion.
